Hovingham Women’s Fellowship is a small ecumenical group of ladies, who meet 10 times a year in members’ houses or Hovingham Village Hall. A variety of speakers are invited including religious ministers or lay people and others who talk about their careers, hobbies or local history and interests.
We have had a variety of speakers including Rev Anne Freestone, chaplain to Simon Howard; Philip Moore, organist and composer and David Goodwin, actor. Mrs Angela Harrison gave a talk on the good work of musical therapy and several other interesting speakers have attended. We offer to donate some funds to the charities of the speakers’ choice.
We had our annual Christmas lunch at Ampleforth and In June we have an annual trip to gardens or a stately home and have tea together there.
Many Fellowship members took part in the Women’s World Day of Prayer service held in the Chapel at Castle Howard, and are also involved in Open the Book, School Assemblies and the Shoebox Appeal.
It is a worthwhile group, hopefully will continue for many years and new members are always made welcome.
