A restaurant with rooms and British tasting menu experience from Chef and Sommelier team, Joshua and Victoria Overington.
Nestled in the picturesque village of Hovingham amongst the rolling Howardian hills of North Yorkshire, Mýse celebrates the ancient North Yorkshire terroir surrounding the restaurant, drawing on the area’s rich history with Joshua’s elegant spin on traditional Yorkshire cooking.
Named after the Anglo-Saxon word for ‘eating at the table’, ‘Time and Place’ shape the menus, with the ingredients and flavours unique to our location and available to us on each individual day dictating the produce-driven style of cooking.
Joshua and his team champion the very best small-scale producers and farmers in Yorkshire and beyond in the British Isles, with regenerative farming and sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
Our team forage, ferment and infuse to create our cocktails, non-alcoholic drinks and snacks to complement the menu. Locally-reared meats are dry-aged and cured in-house as well as home-made charcuterie. Bespoke tableware is handmade for the restaurant, drawing inspiration from Victoria’s family home on the Jurassic Coast to enhance and celebrate our dishes.
Whether for drinks and bar snacks by the log fire in our snug, dining under the soaring beams and large windows, enjoying the spectacle of our open kitchen or staying for a restful night in one of our beautiful en-suite rooms, our newly renovated 19th century inn is full of character and charm to beguile the senses.
With a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, our aim is to create a fine-dining experience that will excite and surprise our guests, creating memories for long to come.
We look forward to welcoming you to Restaurant Mýse.
